Media player for Basis Peak fitness watch Interaction and interface design
❯

I designed the user interface for controlling phone playback on a fitness watch.

Problem: Limited interface

The new feature had to match the existing app ecosystem in terms of design and interactions. I worked closely with firmware and mobile app engineers to comply with the technical constraints on both watch and phone side.

Solution: Test to confirm

Usability of the architecture and the interactions were tested before, during and after launch and the final feature received extremely positive feedback.

Problem: How to keep users engaged?

Smart wearables often struggle to offer sustainable features. Smartly designed mobile app can extend the experience.

Solution: Display meaningful data

I studied how our competitors rewarded and motivated the users and integrated social media features on iOS and Android platforms. I focused on design patterns that display data relevant to the users’ individual needs.

Bring out the rewards!

Based on my findings, I mapped out the existing reward system of our app and expanded it to include more complex user scenarios with a better potential of progress.

Problem: Poor CMS leads to poor interface

The lack of structure in SFZC's content management system has lead to chaotic information architecture on the client facing site.

Solution: Consider all user groups

After defining most problematic user experiences on the client side, I turned my focus on most common use cases for updating and expanding the site. It was important to design tools that allow administrators to focus on fast content creation while directing information in logical sections for visitors.

Plan, document, template

In an organization with constant rotation of staff with varied technical skills, a solution offering clear guidelines and solid documentation is essential for longevity and good maintenance of the site.

I designed user interactions and interface for a future wrist worn device and its mobile app.

Problem: What could possibly go wrong?

In collaboration with QA, customer service and firmware teams, I troubleshot potential edge cases while trying to maintain a natural and logical flow of interactions. Suggested architecture was improved through iterative testing. I updated technical specification documents throughout the development process.

It's so tiny!

Designing the visual interface of the device was a process of precision because of the tight development schedule and the reduced form-factor.

Problem : Did we get it?

I built interactive prototypes for in-person user testing. Users’ mental model of the device was evaluated together with their emotional response, and the deign process adapted accordingly.

Solution: Persona definiton

Target persona profiles were updated based on ethnographic surveys and online questionnaires.

User scenarios

I was exploring possible innovative features for the device in order to appeal to a larger audience in everyday use, including B2B scenarios.
